History

At the 21st of October 1922 was at “bei Dirsch” (today Hotel Post) a meeting between the following men to the foundation of the SV Horn: Ing. Schober, Lehrmann Rudolf. Kellner Heinrich, Kellner Hans. Geischek. Wawronek. Groß, Mader Hermann. Lakner, Jarmer Gottfried und Amon Franz Otto.

At the main meeting on the 4th of December 1922 “bei Graf” was Rudolf Zotter choosen to be the representative and Otto Wimmer as representative and deputy.

The club colors “Blue-White” – the Horner citycolors – has been set on the 21st of June 1923.
 

The sportsclub Horn changed the name 1927 to “Rapid Horn”. Only two years after the foundation of the SV Horn, a second football club was founded 1924, the ASK Horn. These two clubs are partner since 1947 with the name – SV Horn –.

 
The play operation has started after the foundation in 1923 at a place near the derFraunhofnerstraße (today auction hall)

It took several years, till 1927, until we moved to the Hopfengarten (today union place), the games have been there till the year 1949.

 

 
 
After that, there was a perfect place at the “Jahnwiese”.

In 1957 the SV Horn received a property as a good offer at the Illnerdenkmal. That was the basement for the today’s “Schmuckkasterl” at the sports place “Hopfengarten” laid. At the 10th October 1958 has the play operation begun.

 

 

At begin of the 70s expand and modernism of the stadium has been started. The highlight of the modernism was the floodlight plant on the stadium at the 2nd August 1972 which was invented with a match against the SK Rapid Wien. A new rostrum with 600 seats was in two years ready to show in common with a buffet, cash and a new entrance at the 13rd August 1977.

 

 

The Stadium has now a bigger rostrum and shows off in a new design which fits perfect into the new time in 2007.

 

2008 Changes of the VIP-Club:

The VIP-club got a rebuild 2008 and there are been some new changing rooms.

 

In May 2008 there was a television suitable floodlight plant installed in only 5 days which is national league suitable.

 
2011/12, The SV Horn is atumn master in the region league ost. Complete rebuild of the grass, stadium and modernism made the new name, the stadium is called Waldviertler Volksbank arena from nowadays. It is a very popular arena and everyone says that it looks just beautiful with all the lights and modern objects and equipment.

In 2012 got SV  Horn two wins against the WSG Wattens (whole score 9:1), and has been promoted to the “Heute für Morgen” first league into the Austrian professional football. The SV Horn was at least at table status 7.

At the beginning of the spring round 2013 was the SV Horn in the Waldviertler Volksbank arena pretty good  and was with a win of 5:0 very impressive in the first league.

Season 2012/13 was great, the SV Horn is 6. Place in the premienseason and is 46 points behind the last club of the national league.

In the second season of the first league are we with 44points 7. and in the conclusion table really thick behind the leaving club of the league SV Mattersburg.

In 2014 did the SV Horn reached the ÖFB-Samsung-Semifinale against Red Bull Salzburg in a full house with about 5500 spectators, with a lot of help and budget, did we managed to expand the arena so every one has a place to watch this match.

Autumn 2014, the SV Horn reached in the conclusion table before the winter break the 7th place in a really thick league – with 23 points only 2 points behind the 4th place. – in front of the KSV and national league leaving team FC Wacker Innsbruck.
